HAVE YOU INVITED HIM

"On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding". (John 2:1-2)

Wherever Jesus is invited, He makes an appearance! Whether eating in a friend’s home or teaching in the temple, He took a keen interest in the joys and sorrows of ordinary people.

In John 2, we find Him attending a wedding. When He was invited to people’s homes or events, He went – whether rich or poor, politically-connected or societal outcasts. This celebration was in the obscure village of Cana, and we assume the bride and groom were poor, because they could not furnish enough wine for the duration of the festivities.

Running out of wine equated to the deepest disgrace and would have marred the bride and groom’s reputation for years. Even though Jesus declared that His hour had not yet come, His mother told the servants to do whatever He asked. She knew that He would not allow His friends to be humiliated. His first public miracle demonstrated His deep compassion.

Jesus cares about every detail in our lives. No matter how ordinary we consider ourselves to be, He comes when we call. He cares about our fears and inadequacies. He shares our joys and victories. Have you invited Him to come into your heart and home? He never declines an invitation.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. In the coming year, open the doors wide to invite Jesus into your heart and home. In His presence, you will experience fullness of joy!

PROTECTING OUR HERITAGE

So I answered them, and said to them, ‘The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem.’ (Nehemiah 2 : 20) In our husband-wife relationships, we are responsible for maintaining the border of marriage. Nehemiah demonstrates a principle for us as we consider those who might discourage us in our endeavors. In complete confidence, Nehemiah declared to the triple threat: “The God of heaven Himself will prosper us.” He put his enemies on alert. No matter what they said or how they attempted to thwart him, they had no bearing on his outcome. His outcome was determined by God alone. He was the One Who would protect and prosper them. COMMITMENT THAT BRINGS VICTORY

" Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring  it  to pass". (Psalm 37 - 5) In every congregation or conversation with Jesus recorded in the Bible, three types of individuals emerge. The curious came to hear what this preacher had to say. The convinced believed, through their experience and observation, that He had the power to change their lives. The third group of individuals moved beyond the curious and the convinced to a faith that changed the world – they were the committed. One day, five thousand people came to hear Jesus – some walking great distances. He had compassion on them, and He healed the sick and hurting that came seeking His help.
