HAVE YOU INVITED HIM

Image
"On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding". (John 2:1-2) Wherever Jesus is invited, He makes an appearance! Whether eating in a friend’s home or teaching in the temple, He took a keen interest in the joys and sorrows of ordinary people. In John 2, we find Him attending a wedding. When He was invited to people’s homes or events, He went – whether rich or poor, politically-connected or societal outcasts. This celebration was in the obscure village of Cana, and we assume the bride and groom were poor, because they could not furnish enough wine for the duration of the festivities. Running out of wine equated to the deepest disgrace and would have marred the bride and groom’s reputation for years. Even though Jesus declared that His hour had not yet come, His mother told the servants to do whatever He asked. She knew that He would not allow His friends to be humiliated...

JESUS OUR GRATEFUL EXAMPLE

Image
"Then they took away the stone  from the place  where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up  His  eyes and said, ‘Father, I thank You that You have heard Me". (John 11:41) Jesus exhibited a thankful attitude as He fulfilled His ministry here on earth. He demonstrated the way to the Father’s heart, the means to walk in the miraculous. When the disciples despaired of feeding a crowd of five thousand with seven loaves of bread and a few fish, Jesus stopped to give thanks before sharing it among the multitude. Everyone ate, and seven baskets of leftovers were collected! We often meet our lack with complaints and comparison: “Why do they have so much when we have so little?” Perhaps, if we offer up genuine gratitude for what He has given us, an all-sufficient God will bless us with more than enough! When Jesus wept before the grave of His friend, Lazarus, He paused to thank God for listening. Immediately afterwards, a dead man walked out of the tomb into the joyf...

WAKE UP

Image
"And  do  this, knowing the time, that now  it is  high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation  is  nearer than when we  first  believed". (Romans 13:11) A significant and essential change needs to occur in this nation to combat the deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons that have hypnotized us! We do not need a shift in our governmental system, for a certain party to come to power, or a dynamic voice to come to the forefront. The most vital and necessary change that needs to happen in this country is for apathetic, sleeping Christians to wake up! Current circumstances are shaking us awake from our deadly slumber. The world is sleeping in the dark, but we have fallen asleep in the light. If we do not begin to use our freedom to defend our freedom, we will lose our freedom! We are at a tipping point. The scales of justice and Truth are not just out of balance, they are in danger of toppling over. The scales of political correctness...

BELIEVE AND RECEIVE

Image
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater  works  than these he will do, because I go to My Father". (John 14:12). A miracle is the supernatural manifestation of God’s power, so that we recognize Him for Who He is. When the unexplainable occurs, when the impossible becomes a reality, we are forced to acknowledge the One Who breaks into the ordinary with His extraordinary. Trapped! The children of Israel gazed helplessly at the Red Sea before them and the Egyptian army in hot pursuit. No way out…until a strong wind piled up water on the left and right, and two million people crossed on dry ground. A humble virgin gave birth to a Son. Wise men came from afar, shepherds worshiped, and the heavenly host sang, “Glory to God in the highest!” All of the miracles that Jesus performed? He promised that we will accomplish even greater works than those! Do you believe in miracles? To receive, we must believe. Today's Bl...

SPIRIT OF THANKSGIVING

Image
"I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify Your name forevermore". (Psalm 86:12) In just a few weeks and  days, families will gather around a table with those that we love. As we slice the turkey, dive into the dressing, and savor the pumpkin pie, we will offer thanks for the blessings that we often take for granted. More than an annual tradition, our gratitude should spill over into every day. We must cultivate an ongoing attitude of appreciation – a spirit of thanksgiving – that permeates our every waking moment. King David vowed to glorify the name of the Lord forever. And in Psalm 34, he declared that God’s praises would continually be in his mouth. And we know that the mouth can only proclaim what is generated in the abundance of the heart! (Luke 6:45) We need only look around us to find reasons for praise. The heavens declare God’s handiwork. He made the sun to rule the day, and each night, he brings out the starry host one by one and ca...
