AMBASSADORS OF CHRIST

Image
"Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore  you  on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God." (2 Corinthians 5 : 20) Believers bear the responsibility of carrying the message of redemption to the lost. We are saved to save others.  In Acts 10, we meet Cornelius, a devout man who honored God and prayed continually. An angel appeared to him one day and instructed him to send for Simon Peter who would tell Cornelius what to do. By the time Cornelius’ men arrived, God had already prepared Peter’s heart. He went along and shared the Gospel, and Cornelius’ family became the first Gentile converts. Why didn’t the angel tell Cornelius how to be saved himself? On the road to Damascus, Jesus knocked Saul off of his donkey as he went to persecute Christians. Struck blind, Saul was led to Judas’ house where the Lord told him that a man named Ananias would come to lay hands on him so he would receive his sight. In another Damascus hom...

MESSENGERS Ã’F GRACE

Image
MESSENGERS OF GRACE "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always  be  ready to  give  a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." (1st Peters 3 - 15) Am I my brother’s keeper? We are, and may the Lord help us to be true to His holy word.   Romans 10:13-15 tells us that whomever calls on the Lord will be saved. How will a person call on Jesus if they have never heard of Him unless someone speaks up? We are God’s messengers of grace. Soul winning is not a gift; it is a commission from Christ. He commands every single believer to be His witness, to tell His story. How do we respond when someone shares a problem with us?   We can listen, show compassion, and offer intellectual solutions, but more importantly, we can point them to the One Who holds the power to help. As simplistic as it sounds, Jesus is the Answer. When we take their hands and begin to pray, heaven comes down. Remedies that we...

SACRED CHARGE

Image
SACRED CHARGE "And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord." (Ephesians 6 : 4) Just as we provide for our children’s physical well-being, God instructs us to help them develop their God-given attributes. From the manger to the time of His appointed ministry, Joseph and Mary created a home where Jesus was enabled to become what God had designed Him to be. Even though He sometimes baffled them, they trained and loved Him. Mary treasured what she did not fully understand. As parents, we might observe frustrating character traits in our children that lead to worry for their future. But just like a bit in the mouth of a runaway horse, we can bridle and guide those characteristics to be used in great ways. We can teach them to harness and focus those traits, so they become tools in the hands of God. An impetuous Peter can become a fiery preacher. A persecuting Paul can become a mighty missionary. God entru...

YOUR CHOICE (Puppet Or Master To Time)

Image
"And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when  as yet there were  none of them." (Psalm 139 : 16) “Time flies” is a universal adage. How fleeting are the childhood days of summer. How swiftly our newborns mature into graduates. How quickly the years slip away. Unnoticed, clocks and calendars can rule our days. The cares and concerns of life – the obligations and the things that we desire -- can choke out the truth that we have heard. Stress strangles our devotion to the Lord and leaves us with nothing of genuine value for all of our efforts. The world has been experiencing Kidnappings, Ritual Killings and Assassinations (Nigeria in particular). The recent pandemic ground the world to a halt and issued a global invitation to return to the important over the imperative. We reawakened to the wonder of meaningful time with loved ones, the beauty of caring for one another, and the elemental bonds that we share – powerful and basic truths that Jesus expo...

STEADFAST AND IMMOVABLE

Image
"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 15 : 58) Any athlete knows that training requires persistence and consistence. Lifting weights for one day does not produce a muscular physique. Jogging once around the track does not precipitate a call from the Olympics. Training requires discipline – for the parents and the children! Parents, we must be steadfast in setting and enforcing the guidelines. What applies today must be upheld next week. When we are careful to mean what we say, our children learn to trust our word. We must be immovable when it comes to the Word and work of the Lord. When we persevere in spite of tempers and tantrums, children find safety in our consistency. When we persist through the sass and stubbornness, they learn that obedience brings the best outcome. When we model hearts completely devoted to our Savior, children can safely...

STEP OUT IN FAITH

Image
God wants you to have the best of things in the worst of times. He has your very best interest at heart and wants you to prosper in all things. All His wealth belongs to His children. Not some of His wealth… ALL of it! But you do not qualify for God’s abundance unless you are His child. So, the first key to unlocking the storehouses of God is:  have you received Jesus as your Savior?  When God is your Father, His wealth belongs to you. He has promised to take care of His children. As Christians, our disobedience extends to our tithes and offerings. Many Christians are D.E.B.T. Christians…Doing Everything But Tithing! They’re stingy with God, mistakenly believing that the money is theirs to do with as they please. Their financial plan doesn’t include God’s Kingdom. They errantly believe that if they give to God, they’ll have less money for themselves. But you can’t out-give God! God loved you so much that He gave His only Son to redeem you, offering you the unmatched gift of e...

ARMED WITH STRENGTH

Image
"For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me." (Psalm 18 : 39) Have you ever found yourself in a heated battle, baffled and bewildered? Am I not supposed to be victorious, more than a conqueror through Jesus? The Christian journey is not for the faint of heart! We contend with the everyday skirmishes of a fallen world, as well as the spiritual powers and principalities of this evil age. We must engage in battle before we can be crowned victors and overcomers. Take heart! Peter encourages us to not find it strange when we go through the fiery trials (1 Peter 4:12). To one day participate in Christ’s glory, we will share in His suffering. Paul inspired his young charge, Timothy, to endure suffering like a good soldier (2 Timothy 2:3-4). He instructed him to disentangle himself from worldly cares, submit to the rules of engagement, and persevere for the prize that awaits. He assures Timothy that if we die with Ch...

BLESSED IS THE NATION

Image
"Blessed  is  the nation whose God  is  the LORD…" (Psalm 33 : 12) Today, in Nigeria, we celebrate the many freedoms of this great nation of ours! Few nations on the globe enjoy the liberties we do. Take a moment to reflect on where we have come from and to where we are progressing. As we prepare with our families and friends to crossover into the coming year and, participate in the fourth election come February 2023. Let us remember those who fought to establish and maintain our liberty. The first guarantee in the Bill of Rights is the freedom of religion. Across this land, we have the right to assemble in Churches and Mouse, pray freely, worship extravagantly, and boldly teach the Gospel of Christ and Muhammad. We can publish books, broadcast television shows, and stream services on the internet to lift up the name of Jesus – even in countries that are denied those rights. We have the right to an education, to speak opinions freely, and to vote for the people and...

NEVER ALONE

Image
"For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.'" ( Hebrews 13 : 5) In the thick of battle, we are often tempted to believe that God has turned His back, walked away, and left us defenseless. It’s one of Satan’s greatest tactics – to convince us that the Lord has abandoned us and forsaken His love for us. In the face of the father of lies, God’s Word stands forever true and unchanging. He will never leave or forsake us. Salvation brings us the promise of a Forever Friend. Like a nursing mother could never forget her precious infant, God created us, and He will never forget us (Isaiah 49:15). He has inscribed our names on the palm of His hand, a constant reminder of our relationship. Do not be dismayed by His silence when you no longer hear His voice in the noisy confusion of the conflict. Press ever closer to Him. Attune your ears to His direction. Persevere in obedience to the instructions that He last gave. Do not be discouraged when you cannot se...
