 POWER OF THE BLESSING

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit." (Proverbs 18 : 21)


Our words carry weight. One careless remark can open a wound that lasts a lifetime. One sincere compliment can restore hope.

We impact the direction of our children’s lives when we speak life and blessing over them. When we tell them of the good that they can do – instead of constantly focusing on the negative – they wake up to the possibilities of God in their lives.

Throughout the Bible, we see the power of blessing. Abraham blessed Isaac who blessed his son, Jacob. When he blessed his twelve sons, his words shaped their destinies and the future of Israel.

When Jacob laid his hand upon each son, those young men were not yet mighty or distinct in any way. However, the words that Jacob spoke in heavenly places were brought into their lives for the unfolding of God’s plan.

We have the power and the privilege to speak words like “I see great potential in you,” “I see a great leader in you,” “You are a difference maker,” “You are a world changer,” or “I see someone who is going to do amazing things.” Those blessings breathe affirmation and hope into our children’s hearts. It makes them stand taller and walk straighter. No matter their ages, never underestimate the power of speaking a blessing over your children.

Today's Blessing

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May the words that you speak always be filled with the light and life of God to benefit and bless others.

PROTECTING OUR HERITAGE

So I answered them, and said to them, ‘The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem.’ (Nehemiah 2 : 20) In our husband-wife relationships, we are responsible for maintaining the border of marriage. Nehemiah demonstrates a principle for us as we consider those who might discourage us in our endeavors. In complete confidence, Nehemiah declared to the triple threat: “The God of heaven Himself will prosper us.” He put his enemies on alert. No matter what they said or how they attempted to thwart him, they had no bearing on his outcome. His outcome was determined by God alone. He was the One Who would protect and prosper them. " Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring  it  to pass". (Psalm 37 - 5) In every congregation or conversation with Jesus recorded in the Bible, three types of individuals emerge. The curious came to hear what this preacher had to say. The convinced believed, through their experience and observation, that He had the power to change their lives. The third group of individuals moved beyond the curious and the convinced to a faith that changed the world – they were the committed.
